The Pig in the Chinese horoscope

The Pig in the Chinese horoscope

The pig in Chinese culture is an ambiguous character. It is seen as fat and ugly, feeding on the dirtiest things, but at the same time, its meat is the most appetizing for the Chinese. His meat is «meat» in general, as an archetype of tasty meat to feed people. Therefore, although no one praises it during life, everyone desires it after death. The pig, moreover, is a sign of prosperity, the one who has a pig is sure not to go hungry, and in fact the Chinese character to designate home or family, is to show a pig under the roof of the home.

It is possible that in very ancient times the pig had spiritual importance, because according to the logic of those primitive times, when the most common sacrifices were pigs and dogs, only that which has value is sacrificed.

In rural areas, the life of the pig is often similar to that of a dog, running around in freedom while feeding as best it can, until the moment of sacrifice arrives.

A pig is another major protagonist in the novel Journey to the West, but in it his behavior conforms perfectly to the stereotypes of idleness and gluttony one might expect.

In folk festivals the pig usually plays a less religious role than the lamb. Although among some Southwestern peoples ritual sacrifices of pigs are common, in other areas of China, they are sacrificed more for their tasty meat.

Since in China we follow the lunar calendar, and in the West the solar calendar, the beginning and end of each year do not coincide exactly. Therefore, before knowing what the Chinese horoscope says about your sign, make sure that you were indeed born under the sign of the Pig, as are the people born on the dates included in the table on the left.

The hour of birth also has great influence on the character of the person. It is generally considered that those born during the hai hour (from 9 to 11 pm) acquire some qualities of the pig, and tend to be more cheerful and carefree than those born at other times.

People born under the sign of the pig are considered to be simple, peaceful and easy to conform. Honest and affectionate, they like to make friends, however, they trust too soon in people they do not know, which sometimes causes them problems. Patient, kind, hard-working, they rarely have the malice necessary to reach the pinnacle of power.

They usually get along perfectly with: Rabbit, sheep, tiger.

They have frequent conflicts with: Snake, monkey and other pigs.
