Exhibition of Yunnan New Artists 2023

The 2nd Yunnan University Art Mew New Exhibition, a series of nomination exhibitions for new Yunnan artists, jointly organized by Yunnan Provincial Library, Wenda Gallery and Yunnan Chamber of Commerce Design Committee, was officially opened at Yunnan Provincial Library on June 21, 2023 at 3:00 pm and will remain on display until July 5.

The 2nd Yunnan University New Art Exhibition, a series of nomination exhibitions for new Yunnan artists, received more than 2,000 works from young authors from universities across the province, and more than 280 works were finally selected by the jury for exhibition. The exhibition received wide attention from provincial universities, relevant cultural institutions and all walks of life. From the exhibited works, a total of 33 new artists were selected for the «Most Promising New Talent Award» and the «Jury Award». The selection was based on a thorough evaluation of their creative ideas, academic level, basic skills and potential for future development.

«Most Promising Breakthrough Artist Award» The Winners were:

Luo Shenqiang (sculpture).

Cao Yue (oil painting)

Zhang Fan (watercolor)

Li Wenli (engraving)

It was a great pleasure for us to enjoy this exuberance of artworks. Their great variety of styles, techniques and formats make it difficult to evaluate each one of them in its proper measure, so we only dare to point out some of those that, having created their own and original universe in the artwork itself, invited us to approach an otherwise hermetic world, opened a crack for us to glimpse the complex personalities of some of the artists who exhibited their works. We share with our readers some of the works that most caught our attention.

This ignorant spectator brings to the web some of the works in which the authors propose complex, variegated, indecipherable worlds, but which at the same time sow clues for communication with the observer. Many other paintings have caught my attention, from the Chinese landscapes, always so evocative, to the simple ones of a flower or a fruit.
The works reflected here are:
Top: Yang Xiaofan – Opening. 杨晓凡 缺
Zhang Jinglan – Strange Journey in the Middle of My Room – 张警斓 屋中奇游
Huang Jingsong The Destruction of Time – 黄靖淞 时钟的毁灭
Wang Yu wei – Hole N. 1 王 钰薇 陷阱 N. 1
